Once we finally got into the apartment, the rest of the stay went smoothly. It's a bit outside the city, but being right by a tram stop made the place feel worth the money. The real trouble was check-in: we'd told them a month ahead that we'd arrive late and were promised instructions, then the day before they said late check-in wasn't possible. Our flight was delayed, so we had to find somewhere else for that night.

Marco checked us in around 5 or 6 pm and walked us through the room, showing us things like the kettle, hair dryer and TV. It was comfortable enough, and we only came back late after seeing Rome, so this worked as a cheap place to sleep. They cleaned the room daily. There was some noise at night, with no soundproofing and a noisy boiler. People looking for somewhere closer to the city center might prefer another place. Some people online said they had been robbed here, so I wouldn't leave valuables in the apartment. Keep an eye out for tourist scams and your wallet and phone in busy areas. Rome itself has great parks, landmarks and people.

This is a guest house in an apartment, not a hotel with a reception. The owner explained the room and transport when we arrived, and check-in and checkout were both straightforward. You have to pay city tax, which is usual for Booking. Bus 71 or 492 comes often and takes you into the center. The owner speaks enough English. Nearby there's a delicious pizza place called Alice by a hotel, a burger place we didn't try, and lots of cafes. The room was clean, with a big closet, but the walls and curtains were dirty. There was no kettle or fridge for fresh products. The shower was unstable and the water temperature changed quickly. You can hear between rooms, and someone upstairs ran around with her dog until midnight. The Wi-Fi didn't work well, and we heard lots of sirens from the main ambulance road. I can't quite say the area felt bad, but there were two of us and I'd have been afraid alone. We came to see the sights and wanted to avoid stress, so if you haven't booked yet, you might want to choose somewhere else. If you've already booked, it's not so bad that you need to be scared.

There are restaurants and pizzerias nearby at all kinds of prices, and public transport is close, which makes planning visits around the city easier. Our host was very helpful too. We had a bathroom problem after the first night, and they fixed it the next day.

The room was clean, which was the only good part for us. It got very cold at night and we were given just one blanket. There was poor sound insulation, and passing trains and trams caused strong vibrations. The toilet was fine, but the shower had no curtain or door. Wi-Fi was available, but we had no internet for two days; we messaged them and were ignored. The place is far from the center and in a bad neighborhood. The booking and check-in were a mess. My friend and I had reserved January 3 to 7, but our flight was postponed and we couldn't arrive in time to check in. We called and explained, and were told to book other accommodation for January 3, then come to our room on the 4th. When we arrived on the 4th, our reservation had been cancelled and they wanted another €90 for the same room. They claimed they'd explained this on the phone on the 3rd, but they hadn't. The language barrier was obvious throughout because the guy working there didn't speak good English.
