Frederica's Home has a good location, and the room service was good too, but those positives don’t make the room price worthwhile. I’d avoid booking if it costs more than 80-100€ a night. The room we had also had a bathroom door that wouldn’t close properly unless we pulled it hard and slammed it. It wasn’t a major problem, but it could wake your roommate, and at this price I didn’t expect to deal with it. Communication with staff was a big issue. They spoke very little Italian and seemed to understand only basic things. When we asked one worker about payment, he gave us the wrong answer. Later, it became clear he hadn’t understood the question at all, but he didn’t say so. They spoke English too, though their strong accents made them hard to understand, which was unusual for us after years of travel. One worker was especially inconsiderate: at 10 p.m. she needed an answer, so she knocked and rang the bell very loudly without stopping until someone opened the door. It seemed to wake not just us but the whole floor. Breakfast was awkward as well. Most cutlery was available for guests, but small spoons were kept by staff, so you had to ask and wait if you needed one. Guests couldn’t pour their own drinks, even water. The glasses and cups were out of reach, so staff had to pour tea, coffee, water, or juice for you. I don’t understand why it was arranged that way. We stayed four days, and the same two pastries were served every morning. Repeating a pastry once if it hadn’t been eaten the day before is understandable, but four days in a row was too much. Breakfast only ran from 8:00 to 9:30, which felt like a short and inconvenient window.
