Hotel Campidoglio

For the 80€ a night I paid, I have no complaints. The location is about as good as it gets for a tourist visiting the city’s landmarks. Just don’t expect anything resembling a luxury hotel.

The location is central, close to the train station, and within walking distance of the best things to do in Rome. The staff were reasonably nice, but the room felt like a hole, with very little light and amenities that barely worked. Breakfast was almost impossible to eat, and the location itself was very ugly. It felt like a vile scam: they make you think you’re going to the Contilia hotel, then send you somewhere else. At 430 euros a night, I expected a lot more, like decent lighting, bedding, or breakfast that wouldn’t kill a Victorian child. I’d have given five stars if it had cost 100 euros a night, though even that would still be overpriced. I hope you don’t make the same mistake I did.

Everything matched the listing, but it’s just the absolute minimum a tourist needs in Rome. Being close to Termini station is a big plus, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby.

For the price, the rooms are nice and the service is good. The hotel is also reasonably close to Roma Termini.
