Hotel Nardizzi Americana

What made the stay for me was how kind the staff were in every interaction. I felt genuinely welcome, and I'd recommend the hotel and stay again. The location is very convenient, near Termini Station, within walking distance of many sights and on a very safe street. My room was spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms had recently been renovated, and they mentioned they planned to continue the renovations, so I imagine the rooms will be even better in future.

My sister was really disappointed with her stay. There were ants in the room, the window looked onto a terrible inner courtyard, and reception service was awful. The room had a key operated safe but no keys. It also had an air conditioner, but when she asked for its remote, reception refused, saying the city wasn't hot enough. She was shocked. The day before checkout, with checkout set for 10:30 a.m., she asked to leave 1-2 hours later. They said that was fine, so she planned around it. At 10:30 on checkout day, a different receptionist banged on her door asking why she hadn't left. She was stunned because she'd arranged a later checkout the day before. Why agree to it and then change the answer?

The hotel's two stars don't tell the whole story. The people working there are the real stars, and the rooms are very good for a two-star place. You get more than you pay for. The location suited me perfectly: the main sights in Rome are about a 15-minute walk away, while the Vatican is across the river. When I come back to Rome, I'll stay here again. More stars, in my view.

Mario at reception was kind and took the time to help and explain everything. The room was clean and cleaned every morning, and they even kept our things on the last day so we could visit the Vatican without carrying them around, then collect them whenever we wanted. We were very pleased we booked after reading the reviews. From Termini Station, where the airport train dropped us, it was about a 15-minute walk. The Trevi Fountain was around 12 minutes on foot, with most other attractions nearby, so we hardly needed public transport. We'd highly recommend it and will definitely recommend it to our own people!
