They require you to hand in your key every time you leave, but this policy wasn’t mentioned when I booked. A visitor came up to my room briefly during the day, and staff chased him down the stairs and removed him, demanding ID and city tax while claiming this was the law. I understand that accommodation providers in Italy have identification obligations for people staying there, but that doesn’t make a brief daytime visitor an overnight guest. He wasn’t staying at the property. Rome’s accommodation tax applies to overnight stays, according to Turismo Roma, and the public security reporting requirements refer to people lodged or accommodated there. That’s not the same as saying a short visit requires tourist tax. If visitors can’t go upstairs without reception’s prior approval, the policy should be explained clearly when booking and on the website. My issue is that it wasn’t disclosed, and staff enforced it aggressively while invoking “the law” and “city tax” in a misleading way. Guests should know about this level of control and lack of transparency in advance so they can decide if they’re comfortable with it.

This was our second time staying here, and we had no concerns. The room was a good size, clean, and comfortable, with a decent bed and shower. The double glazing worked well, though as a light sleeper I still took earplugs and couldn’t hear anything. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the Colosseum, with lovely views. There are plenty of places right nearby for breakfast and dinner. If you’re after a clean, comfortable room in a fantastic spot, this works very well.

The Colosseum is across the street, and that’s the main thing going for it. The place feels run down, there’s no breakfast, and you can hear noise from downstairs and outside. The AC and fridge work, the bed and pillow are memory foam, and you have to hand in your keys every time you leave.

We booked ten days here because my wife was running the half marathon and we needed somewhere convenient for the race. Vincenzo, Anna, and the rest of the team made us feel at home and were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The rooms are on the small side, but always clean. There’s even a jacuzzi in the bathroom, which was great for unwinding after running or sightseeing. Right in the historic centre, the hotel made it easy to walk to lots of nearby sights. We enjoyed every moment and would definitely recommend it. We’ll be back!

The location is really good, but you put me on the third floor with no elevator. That’s why I can only give one star.
