La Piccola Maison

If you get room 4, I’d stay somewhere else. The one real plus is that it’s close to lots of sightseeing spots. This felt more like a hostel than a three-star hotel, or even a hotel at all. There’s no front desk or staff on site, so the only way to reach anyone is by text. Alessandro, the host, hotel manager, and person texting guests, can take hours to reply when you need help, though replies come quickly when they need something. The bathroom is along the main hallway beside another hotel room, rather than inside the room you rent. Its shower has no door, and water spreads across the floor even with a towel down. It’s extremely slippery and dangerous. The bathroom window shutters also won’t close, so showering can leave you feeling exposed.

Rome is easy to explore from here, with sights and good restaurants nearby, all walkable, and the underground close for anyone who’d rather not walk. The room was lovely and clean, with modern amenities and a comfortable bed. We got in well after hours, at 1:30 AM, because our flight was delayed, but Alessandro and the LPM team made sure we could still get into our room. They had already made us feel welcome before we arrived.

We felt safe here, thanks to the location and the several key-card entries at the entrance. Our room was comfortable and well looked after, and Patrizio was a kind, attentive contact who responded quickly. La Piccola Maison has more of an Airbnb setup, with hosts in touch but no formal front desk or concierge. That didn’t affect our comfort or the stay. When our luggage was delayed for a few days, Patrizio kept in contact and made arranging to be there for its delivery very easy. My partner and I also liked how central it was. The main sights, Roma termini train station, restaurants, convenience and grocery stores, and other shops were all close by. I’d happily recommend it, especially to couples looking for a comfortable place in a good location.

We could walk everywhere from La Piccola, and Trevi was about 10 minutes away on foot. Our room had its own bathroom and was perfect, very clean too. Staff were always available if we needed something or wanted help. Grazie!
