The location was lovely, just a few metres from the Trevi Fountain. For check-in, we received a WhatsApp message and met a man who showed us the rooms and handed over the keys. We paid him 110,00 EUR in cash for three nights, after first checking that the card charge was only to secure the booking. Up to that point, everything seemed fine. But Trevi Queen Apartment says it never received the 110,00 EUR, and the amount wasn’t credited back to our card, so we paid twice. We got no receipt from the man with the keys, which means we can’t prove we paid him. Booking.com also didn’t care that we’d followed Trevi Queen Apartment’s own cash payment instructions. Be very careful when paying!

I’ve travelled all over the world and never had an encounter with scammers like this. I booked because the place was so central, and didn’t check the reviews first. I got scammed. I booked three days ahead while in Spain and said in writing that my flight from the airport would get me there around 5-6 pm. The next day, a text came through while I was still in Spain, but I couldn’t reply. I emailed several times, left voicemails, called from different numbers, and messaged through Booking.com too. I went above and beyond, but nobody answered or picked up. When I arrived in Roma, I got another text I couldn’t open or reply to because I had a Spanish SIM card. I tried calling again, with no luck. Nobody was there when I got to the property. Booking couldn’t help, and I was stranded in Rome with my mother, who has dementia. After knocking on six hotels, I finally found one, and got screwed again: no AC or anything. Still better than sleeping on the street. Scammers.

The so-called director, Andrea, was rude and disrespectful. They accepted several bookings and then wanted to move us somewhere else. When I hesitated, the runner called him, and Andrea told me not to complain because of the price. Completely inappropriate. I found a cheaper booking within minutes.

The door wouldn’t lock, and nobody did anything about it. The manager was rude and seemed irritated when I asked for help. It’s a walk-up on the third floor with no elevator, no coffee pot or dishes, and just one towel per person. Worst stay ever. Don’t stay here.
