Little Aurelius Hotel

The owner is a good person and quite helpful. The location would get five stars from me, but there's useful context to know: this isn't really a hotel, more like an apartment setup, with about five or six rooms on the building's first floor. One person cleans the rooms, and there's no reception or dining room. Think of booking an Airbnb without a kitchen. The room and bathroom were okay in size, but for 70-80 euros a night I'd expect the room to be cleaned and the towels, shower gel, and other supplies replaced daily. That didn't happen. I'd probably not suggest it for couples. Check the reviews and photos and decide based on what you need.

The room had a good size, a nice bathroom, and a fresh, new standard. The hotel is cheap, modern, and centrally located in Rome, so it worked well for us. It did smell a little of smoke, though. Check-in was a bit complicated because the reception is remote. We arrived very late, but once we found the right door, everything went smoothly. To get in, hold the button marked Little Aurelius for nine seconds, then go through the courtyard to the B-entrance. Go up one floor and ring the bell. The clerk will help with the rest.

The rooms are clean and decent, though small, and the location is excellent for getting around on foot, with everything within 15 minutes. Getting in was less straightforward. It's several rooms in one space, with no reception or clear sign from the street. You need to ring the bell, but nobody tells you to hold it for more than five seconds. Once inside the backyard, it's not obvious where to go, though the right way is stairway B. There's also an unexpected set of stairs in the hallway where it's easy to fall.

The rooms are tiny, though they have the basics. We had no hot water in the morning, and the customer service response was awful. Instead of fixing it or offering any compensation, the host got angry with us. The communication felt very strange. I wouldn't recommend it.
