Navona Essence Hotel

The staff were kind and the location was convenient, but I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. We could hear the next room’s TV and music late into the night because the soundproofing was so poor, and had to ask to move. The replacement room was a little better, but we could still hear people talking next door. Friendly staff, but it wasn’t worth it.

The staff were helpful and accommodating, and the location made it easy to walk everywhere. It’s just off the market. We’ll stay here again when we come back.

Once you’ve checked in, it’s easy to walk to most of Rome’s main sights. We walked to both the Colosseum and Vatican City. The hotel sits beside a lovely public square with good restaurants and a nice atmosphere, and the front desk staff were always available and helpful. Getting there can be a challenge if you have lots of luggage: the hotel is on a small street, almost an alley, and you have to walk about 5 minutes over cobblestones. Our room did the job and the bed was comfortable, but there was no view. We were beside the elevator, and its noise woke us early one morning. The bathroom was fine. The shower initially splashed water outside the shower area, but staff fixed it the same day, which was impressive. As you’d expect from a small hotel in central Rome, there isn’t a bar or lounge. There is a breakfast room, though we didn’t eat there.

We just returned from our second stay, this time in a guest house room, and it was just as nice, maybe even nicer, than the Junior Suite. The staff were every bit as kind and helpful as we remembered. We loved the quiet, tucked-away feel when we wanted to relax, as well as being able to walk to all the main sights. The hotel is small and the room was clean. It made a perfect start to our honeymoon, and we had another amazing stay.
