Residenza A The Boutique Art Hotel

We hardly saw any staff at this unstaffed hotel, apart from a cleaning lady in another room when we arrived. The hotel kept messaging us on WhatsApp for passport copies and asking us to pay the tourist tax in cash by leaving money in our room before we left. That cash amount was more than 20% above the price Booking.com quoted when we booked. The water was due to be shut off on our departure day, but we only found a note about it in the room the night before. They could easily have mentioned it in one of their tax messages, which would’ve helped us plan our last morning without a shower or working sink and toilet. The place didn’t meet the cleanliness standards we expected, the bathroom fan didn’t work, and steam filled both the bathroom and room after a shower. The windows let in street noise, with no soundproofing. This is not a 4-star hotel.

Matteo and Arianna were wonderful and easy to communicate with. The rooms were clean, very nice, and a great price, much cheaper than most places nearby. Just be aware it feels more like a B & B than a hotel. It’s on one floor of a walk-up building in an amazing area, and you need separate keys for the building, floor, and room.

The room was very small, but comfortable, and gave us a much-needed place to recharge after powering through Rome. The style is modern, with modern art in the hallway and room, and all the mod cons. Breakfast was brought to our room, which was a nice change.

A lovely park is just a five-minute walk away, and getting into the city is easy. The hotel offers great value, especially with five-star hotels and Michelin restaurants all around it.
