Residenza Adriana

We spent a week here and got around entirely on foot, with the major sights between a 10- and 40-minute walk away. There are affordable places nearby for great pizza, too. The staff were lovely, everything was very clean, and we had no complaints.

We were touched by the romantic welcome, with a drink and rose leaves on the bed. On our last day, the hostess even offered us coffee when we stopped by after checking out, simply because she was so friendly. The location is pretty good, though breakfast and the metro take a bit of walking. That's Rome, where you're going to walk a lot. The room and bathroom were spotless, and the people were very friendly. The mattress wasn't really to my liking, and showers in neighboring rooms were easy to hear, but that's to be expected.

Castel d’ San angelo is right opposite, and Vatican City is only five minutes away on foot. The other tourist spots are walkable too, so the location makes it easy to get around. It's a little hidden gem. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, the mattress was just what we needed after miles of walking, and the air conditioning was a plus. Adriana was very accommodating, and they left us a little surprise after we came back from a tour one day.

The location is great, but that's the only good thing. These apartments are unbelievably noisy. You hear cars outside, constant hallway banging from the early hours, and every sound through the paper-thin walls. Snoring, conversations, every movement from the other rooms, all night. It felt like all five rooms were sharing one space. My wife and I didn't sleep for four nights straight. We've never stayed anywhere this bad. Camilla, the hostess, is lovely, and the one highlight of the place.
