Rione Monti Suites

Antonio was a superstar host, greeting us warmly and giving us lots of useful information. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with space for three or four people. We loved this place. The location is central for just about everything: the train station, pubs, shopping, restaurants, Santa Maria Maggiore Bassilica, and the major sights, which you can walk to. This isn't a hotel, though, so don't expect in-person help after hours. You get your own set of keys.

It's a cozy, homely place, with plenty of local amenities nearby. The location is spot on, and you can walk to all the sights in Rome. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you're visiting to see the sights.

I was disappointed by my stay at Rione Monti Suites. I booked through a third-party service, but the confirmation email wasn't clear about the rate, and there was an unexpected difference between that and the hotel's charges. When I asked reception to explain and hoped they'd find a considerate solution, I got a dismissive, rude response. I was traveling alone on a rainy day when staff told me to "find another hotel" if I wasn't satisfied. I tried several times to speak with the owner and got the same unhelpful answer. The room was very small for the price and had no basic extras like breakfast. Service was poor too. When I got stuck outside and messaged for help with the building door, no one answered. Later, when I asked why, the man told me, "within 10 to 15 min for sure you will find someone passing by and you can ask them to open the door for you". That response felt indifferent and unhelpful. This was my first trip to Italy, and the experience left a bad impression on what should have been a beautiful journey. After I posted the review, the owner messaged me implying the problems were my own fault, saying, “Maybe it’s up to you!” The owner also replied publicly with an accusation that I was just looking for a discount. I want to be clear that discounts aren't the only thing I consider when choosing a hotel. Service quality matters to me. If I only wanted a discount, I would have chosen a different place with better customer service. This exchange reinforced my concerns about the hotel's professionalism and experience dealing with guests.

Antonio was incredibly hospitable and helpful, and Zakir was sweet and always ready to lend a hand. They made our first trip to Rome a pleasure, and we'd gladly return to Rione Monti Suites. We spent four nights there at the start of our first trip to Italy. The suites were spacious, spotless, and quiet, in a beautiful old building. The location was excellent, with restaurants within walking distance, and there was a shared kitchen with coffee and tea. We highly recommend it.
