We loved staying here. It has a lot more character than a standard apartment, and the price was right for such a large space in a central spot. Cafes and a supermarket are just a short walk away, and you can head out in any direction to find ancient remains. The Jewish Quarter, Campo de’ Fiori, Tiber Island, and Trastevere are all within walking distance. The turtle fountain is just steps away, as is Largo Argentina, where Julius Caesar was murdered and where there's now a feral cat sanctuary. You can also take pasta making classes near Piazza Navona. The building dates to 1564 and used to be a cloistered convent, but it has modern conveniences. It's about equally far from the Colosseum and Piazza Navona. We entered using our door code and climbed the lighthouse-style spiral staircase to our room. Both bedrooms were very clean and had TVs, and we enjoyed them every night. Getting to the bathroom meant negotiating a steep staircase carefully, though the handrails were sturdy and useful. This setup could work for kids or adults who don't need constant supervision, older than 5 but not at the wobbly hip-fracture age.
