On the Trastevere side of Ponte Sisto, this is a small, charming public square. It's named for poet Carlo Alberto Salustri (1871-1950), whom Romans knew better as Trilussa. There's a bronze monument to him here, along with an elegant 17th-century fountain. The fountain was reconstructed and rebuilt at this spot near the end of the 19th century, before the square took its current name.
Worst Burger King branch ever! They lock the toilet, so you have to ask for a key. Most of the displays are often out of order, and the monitor showing the orders doesn't work at all.
The side streets have some pretty good places to eat, but the main attraction itself felt overhyped. You end up in a little square with around 200 other tourists, all waiting for something to happen. If nothing does, well, it’s just a small square.
On Tuesday night there were a few groups singing, making music, and dancing, but Piazza Trilussa felt much calmer than it does on weekends. It’s still one of Trastevere’s liveliest squares, and there are plenty of nearby bars and restaurants for a drink or something to eat. I liked sitting on the steps and watching people in the open air, with the fountain and buildings giving the place a classic Roman feel. For the busiest nightlife, Friday or Saturday would probably be better. Tuesday was a nice, less crowded way to enjoy the local atmosphere.
