The location was the apartment’s only real positive. It was run down and not as clean or comfortable as the photos suggested. Even though we told the landlord when we’d arrive, he wasn’t there to let us in, and we waited 20 minutes. The apartment hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests, so we left our luggage and went out. Three hours later, the cleaner was still working. There weren’t enough cups or plates for even five people, despite the apartment easily fitting six, and there were no kitchen towels. The linen was generally quite old. The host simply doesn’t care.

Being close to the Vatican was the only good part. The place was very cold, with no way to heat it even after we turned the air conditioning up to 30 degrees. There was no soap in the bathroom, no sponge for the kitchen dishes and no bin bags. They charged a lot for cleaning, but all the dishes were dirty and unusable.

There’s a 24/7 supermarket about 300 meters away, and the place is near the Vatican and a metro station. It’s nice enough for a few days, but the cleaning company didn’t do a good job.

I booked the apartment and couldn’t reach the person in charge, who didn’t reply to my messages or calls. My family and I ended up stranded on the streets of Rome on a Saturday afternoon without a place to stay. I booked through Expedia, whose customer service was excellent: within half an hour they found us a hotel, so we could still enjoy our vacation. Be careful when booking this apartment. And thanks to Expedia’s customer service!
