The location made things harder than I expected. I wanted to be near the Vatican, but I hadn’t realized that roads would close for Easter. A walk that should have taken 10 minutes became 30 minutes each way, several times. The hotel itself was fine, with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water. It seems well set up for large groups. Breakfast was okay, though nothing special. Staff couldn’t always keep up, so some things ran out for a while, possibly because of extra Easter demand rather than the usual situation. You have to ask for coffee unless you want American coffee. There was always another choice if my first pick wasn’t available, and staff took the time to bring me a cappuccino. The croissants were good.

We’d already spent a couple of days in Rome and had to leave our previous accommodation early in the morning. With a late flight, booking a room just for the day worked out really well. We could leave our luggage there while we explored the city centre for one more day, then freshen up before going to the airport. The hotel is close to the Vatican, with a nice, spacious room and bathroom. It was clean and comfortable, stocked with toiletries and drinks, and the staff were polite and friendly. San Pietro train station is a 7-minute walk away, and you can get to the airport from there.

Breakfast had plenty of choices, which was great for our picky eaters. They also gave us sweet, unexpected birthday greetings over breakfast, such a thoughtful touch. The warm, excellent service made the stay feel especially memorable, and we’ll definitely come back on our next trip to Rome. We had a wonderful time at Starhotels Michelangelo Roma. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. Our Family Suite was spacious and worked perfectly for two adults and two kids. We didn’t get the St. Peter's Basilica view we’d requested in advance, but that didn’t take away from the experience.

After a long trip with two young children and lost luggage, we were told we couldn’t check in early. While we waited in the lobby, we saw other people who arrived after us being offered early check-in. The staff’s attitude and eye rolling were the most striking part of what they called their “welcoming experience.” I don’t usually leave reviews, but the staff seemed to dislike tourists. It felt like they went out of their way to make us miserable and keep us waiting longer just because they could. The professionalism felt outdated and disappointing. Save yourself the disrespect and avoid this place.

We’d gladly return to this hotel. It was a very comfortable stay in an excellent location. The one issue was a small charge that appeared overnight without any explanation beforehand. I’d appreciate more transparency about extra charges.
