Superior Relais Temple View

The shower was surprisingly good, and the cats at the temple, along with the shelter you can visit, are adorable. You do hear some outside noise, though that seems normal for this location. I stayed in room 401, which does have a good temple view. From the layout, I figured rooms 401-403 should also have that view, while 404 and 405 face the alley or parking lot. I didn't see room 405 or go into 402 or 403, so I can't be certain about those, though I think 402 has the view too.

We could open the window right onto the ruins, which was pretty rad, and the place was cool to stay in. The bed was probably the most comfortable one we had across six hotels in Italy. It's also easy to walk everywhere. My only complaint was the tiny shower. I had trouble figuring out how to get inside, but the host answered the phone after hours and helped us in. Breakfast wasn't great, though having cold bottled water was a highlight. They also stored our bags, saving us $20 in storage fees, so we could keep exploring. Here's a photo from the window!

The location was good and so was the staff, but for the price we paid, I was really dissatisfied with our room. It looked nothing like the pictures, was tiny, and faced a parking lot instead of the promised "temple view". We were in room 105, right by the check-in office, kitchen, and elevator, so people were coming and going on the stairs and elevator at all hours. It was SO LOUD, and we barely got any rest during the whole trip. We also couldn't set the AC below 24 degrees without water rapidly dripping from it. My partner and I were disappointed, especially after seeing all the great reviews.

Breakfast was a real letdown compared with the advertised “Delicious Breakfast.” There's a tiny kitchen with one table for two. You can make coffee yourself, and another guest had to show us where the salami, pre-sliced processed cheese, and long-life sliced bread were. The only cereal was bran flakes, and in May the “seasonal fruit” was apples. The supposedly “freshly baked croissants” weren't fresh, though there were supermarket cakes. At least you can help yourself whenever you like, handy for an early start. There are lots of good restaurants nearby. The location is ideal, right in the historic centre, a few minutes' walk from the Pantheon and a little farther to the Trevi Fountain or Roman Forum. Our spacious room had a large, comfortable bed and a great view of the historic temple. The bathroom was large and smart, with a great shower.
