Sweet Inn Central Station

Avoid this place. By the second day I was getting bites, and on the third morning we found blood spots on the sheets from bed bugs. The room had a strange, unpleasant smell from the moment we arrived. When we reported it, the manager first suggested we had brought the bugs ourselves, which was insulting. They did refund the nights we didn't stay, but we had to book another hotel at the last minute for twice the price. The hygiene was terrible, and the service was worse.

Once we figured out the lock, it was easy to use, but getting there took about an hour. We couldn't get the key to work and called both numbers; they each said it was working. In the end, we had to pull the lock slightly loose instead of straight toward it, then move it left. A clearer note with the instructions they send would help. Other than that, we had a great stay.

The location was excellent, close to the metro and within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, and Pantheon. There are some nice restaurants nearby, too. We booked at the last minute during the off season, and the rates were pretty decent. The hotel itself was decent and the rooms were clean.

The room was really dirty, though I didn't complain because I'm not usually the kind of person who does. But bed bugs are a health and safety problem, not just a cleaning issue. My husband was covered in terrible bites, and the owner tried to say we'd brought the bugs. We'd stayed at another hotel just before this one, since unfortunately we couldn't book it for the whole trip, and had no problems there. Be careful and avoid this hotel.
