Tiburtina Inn Guest House

Room service was decent, and for getting around, the location is one of the best you can find. Tiburtina F S is a five-minute walk away, with buses, metros, and trains to anywhere in Rome. The neighborhood looked a little sketchy, but nothing seriously dangerous happened to us. The room was awful for 160 Euros a night. It had the musty smell of a cheap motel in the U.S., a wall lamp dangling by its wire with a lump of plaster sticking out, a closet door that came off its latches, and slightly bulging bathroom shower tiles. Not what I wanted for that price.

The internet was very slow, and the room was sort of clean, kinda ghetto, though at least there were no cockroaches. For 80€ per person, I expected not to feel like I was in jail. Nobody seemed to care or take responsibility. They took our keys for the garage and wouldn't let us get our car in the afternoon, so we had to wait until 7 pm or check it out before 10 am the next morning. Nobody told us anything. Not recommended.

I booked through Booking.com and agreed to pay an extra 20 euros for a late checkout. But when we got there, the place was CLOSED. They told us it would open in 10 minutes, but that never happened, and we had a terrible experience. Irresponsible, lousy service, no attention to tourists. Don't book with these people.

The staff are friendly and gentle, and it's a nice, clean place for someone on a middle-class budget. It's right behind Tiburtina railway station. Breakfast doesn't have much variety, but at these room prices, you can let that pass.
