Hotel Touring

We spent four nights here in March 2026, and it was a bad experience. The floor heating couldn’t be switched off or adjusted, and the rooms smelled filthy. It seemed like the drain pipes weren’t installed properly, since bad odors came from both the toilet and the washbasin and spread through the rooms. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for either work or a holiday.

The location is the main plus. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, the train station is close, and it took us about 25-30 minutes to walk to the center. The room was okay and actually better than the booking photo, and the staff were nice. It may be decent value because it costs less than other places, but I’d look elsewhere if possible. This is an old hotel occupying one floor of a residential building, rather than a place designed as a hotel. The neighborhood was noisy at night, and the entrance, lobby and reception felt dated and unpleasant, with a bad smell. The bathroom smell and old tiles also made me wonder about the hygiene. I got sick and kept sneezing in the room. The bed covers looked very old, so I put my own covers and pillowcases on the bed.

We stayed with my sisters and had a pleasant time. The room was kept in good shape and cleaned regularly, and the AC worked really well, which was a big help in Rome's summer heat. The hotel is also well placed for walking to some sights or catching the metro nearby. Rubbish collection sometimes got loud at night, but it didn’t bother us much.

The location is very central, with lots of attractions, restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance. The hotel is on the second floor, with another hotel below it, and having an elevator was useful. The rooms are small, as is common in Europe, but the shower was the real problem. I’m a US size 12 and struggled to get in safely. It’s raised off the floor, the opening is tiny, and there are no handles inside or out. There’s only a fixed shower head, so you either turn on the water with the doors open and end up on a wet, slippery floor, or climb in first and risk getting scalded or stuck with cold water while it warms up. With no handles, that felt dangerous. When we asked whether a room had a larger shower, the front desk person smiled sarcastically and said that in Italy everyone is in good shape. We’d traveled around Italy for two months without any issue about our shape. My partner couldn’t shower during our whole stay, so we had to use public baths. We were lucky we’d booked just three days. The toilet was clogged too, and we had to use the wastebasket to flush it.
