Elisa, the owner, was lovely and friendly. She gave us tips on good places to visit and eat, and the area felt safe, with the apartment on the top floor among local residents. We visited in December, when it was around 12 degrees, and the room felt very cold even with the air-conditioning set to heat. The bathroom was like a freezer. Its tall windows let the heat escape, and the stone floor was icy. It needed a proper scrub, and there were several mouldy spots in the shower. The bed and pillows were very flat, so between those and the cold, we were uncomfortable overnight. Since the apartment is shared, we also heard other guests banging doors as they left during the night. Breakfast was very limited. We got tokens for a small bar across the road, where the options were just small croissants and coffee. We had to pay extra to upgrade places in Rome.

It felt homely, clean, and comfortable, with tidy shared areas that made me feel like a local. The building has a lovely garden and a very authentic-looking lift that works well. I’d love to come back!
