Varese Roma Hotel

Livio at reception was one of the nicest people we met in all of Italy, friendly, fun, and full of useful suggestions. Daniele was very accommodating too, and Jessica and Luna at the cafe were genuinely lovely. They make excellent cappuccinos, complete with latte art. The rooms were clean and nice, and breakfast was fresh and made to order. We had an amazing stay, and the team helped leave us with great memories of Rome.

We were surprised with a balcony, and the bed was huge. The room was clean and nicer than I expected, with a great shower, strong water pressure, and good washing facilities. The balcony meant we had no other window, though. Since we kept its door shut at night for safety, as two women, the room got quite warm without air conditioning. The staff quickly brought us a cooling fan, which helped. Breakfast was fresh and high quality, served quickly, and the WiFi worked really well. It's also close to termini station. We loved the hotel and would gladly recommend it or stay again if we return to Rome.

Getting around was easy since the hotel is by the main train station. The staff were so welcoming and fun, and made our time in Rome memorable. Luna, Livia, Jessica, and Giovanni were all kind and amazing. We also met the general manager, who was busy but still very accommodating and nice.

The staff were pleasant, the location is handy beside termini, and the minibar prices were reasonable. We chose not to have the included breakfast. The room itself was spacious and the bed comfortable, but it was at the back of the hotel, away from the main building. It was disappointing end to our Italy trip after going in with high hopes from the reviews. There were bits of debris on the floor, mold in the bathroom sink, and green staining on the sink. The room smelled unpleasant and the smell persisted. The wallpaper was torn and the walls marked, with upkeep generally neglected. The bathroom was especially concerning: the wet floor became dangerously slippery, the sink was tilted, and there was no shower barrier, so the floor stayed wet. We laid towels down as a path to avoid falling. The air conditioning was set to full heat, making the room uncomfortably warm, and because it was on the ground floor we couldn't open the window.
