Sweet Dreams

During my two weeks in Sicily, this was easily my favorite place to stay. Anonina was a perfect, welcoming host and made sure I was happy. The rooms were spotlessly clean, breakfast was more than generous, and the location was quiet despite being just moments from San Vito beach and the local bars and restaurants. A wonderfully run B&B in San Vito lo Capo.

The room was clean, modern, and cared for down to the smallest details, but the people running the place were not up to the job. The one star is for the kindness and helpfulness that were completely missing. I waited a year to write this because we had to take legal action against Mrs. Antonina. The trouble started on arrival. Before meeting her, we got a phone call from her saying she didn’t want breakfast included in our reservation because she thought the price we’d found and paid was too low for the room’s real value. She had chosen that price herself on the booking platform. She even threatened to cancel the reservation. This was sorted out over the following days, but she also deleted the WhatsApp chats about it. Then, the morning before my 18th birthday, we got locked out because the key had been left inside the room. We called the man who handled cleaning and breakfast to open the door. Their key wouldn’t open it from outside, so they called a locksmith. He arrived with a crowbar and broke the door. That same evening, Mrs. Antonina started demanding money with threatening messages. The repeated chats and calls ruined our vacation and our birthday. She also threatened to call the Carabinieri in San Vito Lo Capo to report us, or to come to our home in Lombardy after we returned, since she had our addresses from the check-in documents. It took months and a lawyer’s help to resolve things. If you want a peaceful, quiet vacation, I wouldn’t stay at this B&B. They can completely ruin your plans.
