Via Mameli 5 Inn

The good things were the location, how clean it was, and the very kind person who greeted us. We only saw them once during our stay, and they spoke French. Otherwise, this is a very basic hotel. There's no breakfast, and nothing like coffee or tea is provided in the room. For the bathroom, each person got just one small sachet of soap per day, which felt very limited. You can hear everything the neighbors do, so there's no privacy. And despite what some websites say, there is no parking.

The location is fantastic, the room was clean and pleasant, and housekeeping came every day. The price is great for what you get. If you're looking for the cheapest hotel with a really good location and decent quality, this is clearly the best option. There are some annoying drawbacks, though. Each person gets one tube to use as both shampoo and shower gel, with barely a drop inside, so it's hardly enough to wash your hair. The shower is tiny, and if you drop something, good luck picking it up, lol. But the worst part is the paper-thin walls. You hear EVERYTHING, from coughing and TVs to people snoring as if they're right beside you. It's more than acceptable overall, but who you're staying next to can completely change the experience, lol.

We came back after two years and were delighted to find the same lovely courtesy and excellent cleanliness. I stand by all the stars I gave it. Wi-Fi is included, and the location is top-notch, with restaurants, pizzerias, supermarkets, pharmacies, and tobacconists all within walking distance. The beach is about a 10-minute walk away. A small breakfast option would be a nice improvement, though there are several bars just below the building.

The rooms are in attic spaces on the fourth floor, and the property is literally steps from the Ariston Theatre. The amenities are simple but work fine: air conditioning, a TV, and three extra pillows with different levels of firmness. The host is always available and quick to help. Great value for money if you're on a budget!
