Hotel Flamingo

This is a lovely place for a relaxing break, with a good-sized pool and its own beach. The hotel is small, with a main complex and separate apartment blocks. There are activities such as gym, tennis, and crazy golf, but they’re showing their age. Each evening there’s entertainment by the pool, and the staff are wonderful. The hotel is on its own, a drive from any town or amenities, so a hire car or similar comes in handy for visiting other beaches and activities.

We spent a week at flamingo hotel, and it’s a simple four-star resort. Our room was clean, spacious, and had AC. The beach is beautiful, and the pool and beach are for hotel guests only. Make sure to book your umbrella and chairs through your booking for the stay. The staff were helpful with food and drinks, and the service was good. I didn’t try the SPA because the seaside was already stunning. There are other lovely beaches nearby that you can reach by car. It’s a place to relax and take your time, especially since you’re in Sardinia. Bring water shoes, as the seabed can be rocky as well as sandy.

The food was bland, though sometimes surprisingly nice. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, and staff kept the kids busy throughout the day. The swimming area and staff were lovely. The area just outside the rooms smelled of sewers, which wasn’t pleasant to deal with every day. There were no irons available, and beach towels cost 3 euros a day to hire.

The hotel is very remote. Getting there from the airport by public transport, using a train and bus, took us 1 hour and 45 minutes. A taxi or Uber would cost around €120 one way, which isn’t practical. The pool was much smaller and less appealing in person than in the online photos. The beach was rocky, and even basic towels had to be rented for €3 each. Water that costs €0.69 in shops was sold for €3.50, and there wasn’t even a welcome bottle on arrival. Dinner was €45 per person per day, a lot for what was offered. We’d booked a double bed but were given two singles instead. The air conditioning barely worked, so sleeping comfortably was very difficult. The room itself wasn’t up to a four-star standard. The manager was unhelpful and quite arrogant, and our interaction with him was unpleasant. Reception felt unwelcoming, and communication was hard. Even basic English was barely understood at breakfast. Breakfast was a major letdown, with nothing Italian, fresh, or special. At 9:50 AM, I asked for eggs because none were left, and was told in poor English that it was nearly 10:00 and breakfast was over. The staff member was rude, and that reflected the hotel’s overall atmosphere. It doesn’t live up to its four-star rating. Honestly, I wouldn’t give it even two stars.
