Agriturismo Cà Trinchè

We came to Ca Trinché for half board, arriving yesterday afternoon and leaving this morning, though I really didn’t want to go. Mrs. Ornella made us feel completely at ease and put together a romantic dinner for our wedding anniversary. She even gave us a room all to ourselves and let us taste the house’s excellent food and wines. I keep thinking about the handmade tagliolini with chopped hazelnuts and sage, plus a glass of Dolcetto and Moscato. This morning brought more treats from Ornella, such a good cook and pastry chef. She also makes whole-wheat bread, preserves, jams and natural juices. I hope we can come back soon. I won’t forget her.

I booked through Booking.com for my friend and me to stay April 22nd to 24th. I’d mistakenly entered the 24th as checkout instead of April 25th, so I asked the owner whether we could change it. She said yes, but told me to cancel through Booking.com first so she could update the dates. We did that, which is why I can’t leave a review there. We left early because the stay didn’t match what had been advertised. Our duplex room had narrow, steep stairs up to the bedroom. The pellet stove was very loud and smelled smoky. The mattresses and pillows were so uncomfortable that an osteopath seemed necessary in the morning. There was no TV, and some lights didn’t work, with heaters used in their place. Breakfast was poor quality, the owner wasn’t welcoming, and getting to the farm was difficult. Terrible value for money.

We arrived to find the bed completely unmade, so I took the sheets and made it myself. Later, after we came back damp, I switched on the pellet stove. White smoke filled the room, and sparks flew toward the outlet it was plugged into. I opened a window and spent the night cold. In the morning, the lady didn’t ask how we’d slept. She scolded us, saying we had poisoned the neighbors by using the stove, and that our dog had bothered us all evening. There was no bidet and no soap, not even hand soap. When I mentioned the unmade bed and that the chimney needed cleaning, she didn’t seem bothered and went to check whether my dog had caused damage. At €80, I should be the one asking for damages. Have a nice stay, everyone.

The meal was local fare, and breakfast came with products from nearby. It’s also a handy base for visiting the main villages around the area. There are only a few rooms, but they’re very good, and the agriturismo is set among vineyards, clean and run by helpful people. They didn’t have enough space for our whole group of 10, including a child, so they arranged for some of us to stay at a similar place nearby.
