Lokanda Devetak

The dishes were full of flavor, rooted in tradition, and refined. What made the meal especially memorable was how warmly the team welcomed us, almost as if we were dining with family. Lokanda Devetak 1870 has a lovely atmosphere, and you can feel the passion behind this family-run restaurant. One of the daughters looked after us attentively, knew her wines, and recommended pairings that worked beautifully with the food. We’d definitely return when we’re next in the region. Highly recommended.

My husband and I chose the six-course tasting menu, and the wine pairing was right on point. The food was homemade, authentic, and exceptionally tasty, with each course full of flavor while still feeling unpretentious. They offer a separate gluten-free menu, and they were also happy to adapt my tasting menu by adjusting a few dishes. The warm atmosphere and attentive, very friendly staff made the visit even better. I’ll certainly be back.

The Slovrnian/Italian classics are done to a really high standard, and the wine list is extensive, with plenty of options by the glass. Prices are very good, too. It’s always a top experience here. The owners and their daughters are such a warm team, and they put extra care into the food, the whole experience, and how they treat you.

The rooms are rustic and traditional, but comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. The owners also know the region’s food and wine inside out, and clearly love sharing their recommendations. Lokanda Devetak makes you feel like a real guest. I love Friuli-VG, and when I come back to explore more of the fascinating Karst and Gorizia region, I’d stay and eat here again. I’ve already recommended it to others.
