Hotel Margherita

The bathroom was covered in hair, and the toilet brush made me feel sick. We couldn’t continue our stay and were refunded. What embarrassed me most was that the people running the place didn’t seem to understand how serious the problem was. The building is dated, but that wasn’t the issue. After I made a legitimate complaint to Booking.com, the owner spoke to me very aggressively and authoritatively, as if I’d done something almost illegal. I was even expected to sympathize with the cleaner, who might have been asked to do something else and left the bathroom uncleaned. In hospitality, positive feedback from a guest is the greatest satisfaction. Otherwise I wouldn’t sleep at night. A property to avoid.

We had a lovely weekend here in January with our 10-year-old daughter, and we’ll be back soon. The owner and her daughter were so kind, and always had suggestions for things to see and do nearby. Our room was clean and had a spectacular view. It’s a simple hotel, but well kept, and breakfast was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Right by the center of Scanno, this is a historic hotel in a handy spot. It could probably use some updating or freshening up.

The hotel is family-run, with a lovely entrance hall and a great spot for countryside walks. The staff were extremely friendly, and the rooms were comfortable and spotless. The linens and beds were changed every day. The owner cooks excellent food. Highly recommended!
