Villa Ombretta

It’s between Canazei and Moena, which makes it a good place to stay if you want to avoid the more expensive hotels in those two towns. Breakfast is buffet style, though I’d have liked more savory choices, like eggs or bacon.

I spent about a month at Hotel Ombretta for work and came away very pleased. From the hotel there’s a wide panorama over Soraga, the lake, and part of Val di Fassa, which made the stay especially pleasant. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable, and the heating worked very well through the Trentino winter. I never felt cold. Breakfast had a good range of sweet and savory food, and you could order fresh coffee drinks at the bar. The staff were consistently kind, attentive, and ready to help. My one small gripe was that there wasn’t a mini-fridge in the room. The staff helped by keeping what I needed in the kitchens, with no trouble. A more than satisfactory stay, and one I’d recommend.

We were there from December 26th through January 1st. The hotel was well organized, with evening entertainment for adults and kids. My 8-year-old daughter had a blast. The food was good, breakfast generous, and the prices reasonable. They didn’t charge for drinking water, and the New Year's Eve dinner was excellent. Highly recommended.

The room was simple, but clean, warm, and roomy, and the bathroom had plenty of space too. Staff at reception and in the dining room were extremely friendly. Breakfast was varied, with delicious croissants, and the bar staff made excellent espresso, cappuccino, and other coffees fresh instead of using vending machines. Dinner was good as well, with two choices of starter and main, followed by a generous buffet of salad, vegetables, and fruit. The Sky Room was warm and available, and parking was provided. Excellent value. We’ll be back!
