Arcobaleno Bed&Breakfast

A horrible experience. We reached the B&B at 7 pm, after booking it months earlier, and nobody was there. There were no instructions in the booking chat and no messages. When I called the property, the owner said there was a problem with the room and we’d be staying at a hotel in the same town instead. The host had known about the problem since that morning, maybe even for days, but hadn’t told us. It felt as though they kept quiet to stop me cancelling and booking somewhere else, leaving us with no say over our vacation once we arrived. The replacement was a 2-star restaurant and hotel, with a room about 2 by 2 meters, a bathroom with no window, no balcony, and none of what we’d booked. The B&B had been an apartment with a garden and sea view, so the new place was nothing like it and caused us a lot of inconvenience. After I got home, I had to push Booking.com through three calls to different operators and a couple of emails. The only result was a 10% refund. I strongly advise against this property.

The view from the little balcony was beautiful, and it even had a clothesline. The room was new, spotless, and had all the comforts we needed, including a minibar and hairdryer. Breakfast was excellent, with homemade pastries, juice, cereals, and bread, served with real kindness and helpfulness. There’s a bit of a climb to get to this convenient B&B, but it’s manageable, and it’s well placed for Maremma’s attractions and beaches. We wanted two days by the sea, and this was a great experience.

Set among greenery, the rooms have terraces with a fantastic view, and the silence is something special. I hadn’t seen such a lovely starry sky in ages. The town center and several restaurants are very close, and the sea is only minutes away. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well equipped. The owner is extremely kind and helpful, and can suggest experiences that suit what you’re looking for. Great value for money. I highly recommend it.

If you want peace and quiet, this B&B is a good choice. It’s 15 km from Castiglione della pescaia and away even from the small village of Tirli, with a panoramic view over the Grosseto and Castiglione coast. The teenagers were disappointed that there was no WiFi or pool to cool off in. Breakfast was just the owners’ homemade cakes, no croissants or English-style bacon and eggs. Good thing there was air conditioning 😉
