Hotel Villa Marie

The owners went out of their way to look after us, which made for an absolutely incredible stay. Our room was beautiful and clean, with wonderful air conditioning. Breakfast was included, and the fresh honey and delicious cappuccinos stood out. I spent over six hours comparing Lake Como hotels, ferry routes, walking distances, and reviews, trying to find a good balance of price, location, and convenience. I wanted somewhere reasonably priced, close enough to walk to Hotel Tremezzo, and near the ferry for trips to Bellagio, Varenna, and Como. There are so many beautiful places around the lake, but working out which towns are practical takes more planning than I expected. Location really makes a difference when you want to explore several towns without stress.

The lunch and dinner menu is basic, but the hotel is great value for money, and the returning customers make that pretty clear. The staff are lovely too.

The staff and service are what make Hotel Villa Marie special. The team seems small, so you see the same friendly faces, and the atmosphere feels warm and familial. When I had to leave at 6 AM for an early flight, before breakfast started at 8, they packed me breakfast the night before. I really felt looked after. The hotel is very close to the Tremezzo spots and ferry port. My room was clean and had AC. I booked a mountain view, and although that was technically right, one window still gave me a very clear view of the lake. Breakfast was included and delicious, with local food. I still crave the croissant with apricot jam. For such a reasonable price, this is an incredible hotel, especially compared with the many great four and five star hotels I’ve stayed in around the world. I’ll definitely come back!

We spent four nights here after eloping around Lake Como, and it was perfect. The hotel has loads of charm, and the staff were friendly and attentive, always happy to answer our questions. After sightseeing, the quiet pool was a lovely place to unwind. We also enjoyed a glass of wine on the beautiful terrace, and dinner was so good. Breakfast is served daily. It’s a great location if you want somewhere quieter than the other towns around the lake, with restaurants and the ferry within walking distance. We’d love to stay here again!
