I’d give the location 8/10 and the price 8/10. The swimming pool gets 8/10 too. For food, breakfast gets 7/10: coffee 9, juice 4, dessert 7, cheese 3, and bread 7. Dinner is also 7/10, with salads at 8, the starter at 6, main meal at 8, desserts at 5, and ice cream at 2. The rooms get 6/10. Cleanliness was 8, storage 6 because it was small and old, the bed 7, pillows 2, and bathroom 8. The view was only 2/10. Calmness gets 3/10, since you can hear neighbors, people crossing the corridor, and anyone talking at the far end. Kindness and hospitality are 5/10. We were shocked by how the receptionist treated us, especially on the first day. Some restaurant workers weren’t friendly, though others were super friendly and tried to help. Language skills also get 5/10: a few people could speak German or English, but most couldn’t, and we had trouble understanding one another.

After five days, I was glad to leave. I came with my class on a ski trip, and this was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The location was okay, but our three-person room smelled like we were constantly smoking, no matter how much we opened the windows. We couldn’t find any fire alarms, the wardrobe was nearly falling apart, and the mattresses were awful. The bathroom had green walls with flower prints and holes in them, and there was no hot water in the shower. Once, when I showered, the bathroom also started smelling like an ashtray. The food was bad too, with too few vegetables and mostly no taste. I wouldn’t come back at any price.

At Schachen Park Hotel in Ahrntal, Italy, the rooms were spacious, clean, and well maintained, with plenty of room to unpack bulky winter clothes. There’s parking on site, which is a plus, and the staff were friendly. It’s a very nice hotel from an earlier era.

The scenery was incredible and the people were very nice. The food was okay, and we had a nice stay overall. The cleaning staff were really scary and always shouting.
