Hotel Al Duca Di Venezia

Mornings were a treat here. The hotel sits on a quiet dead-end street, with a canal right outside, and I liked having coffee while watching boats bring goods to the island. It’s an easy 10-minute walk from the train station and a handy base for exploring different parts of Venice. We stayed three days, and the friendly staff made it even better. The person at the front desk was always helpful and spoke English well. Breakfast was included and very good. Venice is amazing, and I can’t wait to return.

Service was very good, and having tea and an electric kettle in the room was a nice touch. The awkward bit is that there’s no convenient outlet for the kettle, so I had to boil water in the bathroom. The shower could be a little larger; even someone in an XS size might find it hard to get out. Breakfast was okay, though the pancakes and eggs were cold, and the kiwi was hard to bite.

The red room was spacious and nicely arranged, and housekeeping cleaned it daily, which we appreciated. The hotel felt calm and restful, and breakfast was excellent. Staff were exceptionally friendly and did everything they could to help us. We spent two nights, from 15-17 September, in room 101. The location worked well for us, just a three-minute walk from the waterbus stop in a quieter part of Venice with peaceful streets. There’s a Coop supermarket around the corner, also about three minutes away, plus several nearby local restaurants serving Italian food and desserts like homemade tiramisu.

The rooms looked even larger in person than they did in the photos, and they were the cleanest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The front desk and concierge really made us feel at home, even carrying our luggage upstairs.
