For the price, the room was frankly awful. Venice itself may explain some of the cost, but don't trust the promotional photos. The room was cramped, and getting around the bed meant squeezing along the wall. It had no natural ventilation. There was a window, but it opened onto a kitchen outlet that smelled of fish. The air conditioning was directly above the bed, so the choice was to get slowly cooked in the heat or breathe that fish smell. After an hour, the room was unbearably warm. There was a kettle and instant coffee, which was hardly a bonus. Check-in was at a different property, where we had to collect the keys, adding another stop after the walk from the station. That was the last thing we wanted before reaching our room. The stay felt tired and past its best, relying far too much on a reputation it hadn't earned. The only romantic part was how relieved we were to leave.
