The bed was completely uncomfortable: two single beds pushed together with one mattress and a huge ridge down the middle. That's unacceptable. The location is great, the staff were friendly, the shared bathroom was clean, and breakfast was great. The place is old and needs restoring. The furniture styles don't match at all.

The manager was a hospitable woman who kept the rooms clean and tidy, and we appreciated her help. Her Italian English was a little hard to understand, but we managed to work things out by using some reasonable guesswork. The location itself is hard to find through Venice's narrow alleys, though that's what Venice is like, and even Google Maps can give wrong directions. The worst part was a man coming into our room around 6:30 a.m. while my husband and I were both asleep. He said he was the owner of B&B Anglo and had been told nobody was in the room. It was embarrassing and made us angry, and it woke us far too early. There were also so many mosquitoes. During our two nights we woke up again and again to deal with dozens of them, and I still have scars on my arms more than two months after leaving Italy. I noticed quite a few mosquito remains on the wall the first time I entered the room. I suppose most B&Bs in Venice are small and expensive. Anglo B&B cost us over 90 euros a night without breakfast, much more than our Rome B&B at 65 euros a night, which included a delicious breakfast and had a lovely setting and thoughtful service. I hope Anglo B&B improves and can keep going in this historic tourist city.

The location is amazing. From the train or bus station, take vaporetto #1 to S. Silverstero, then it's just a three-minute walk with no bridges to cross. The room itself was very nice, and the shared bathroom down the hall was nice too. There was no elevator up to the third floor and no breakfast. It was fine for a night or two.

Beds were comfortable and clean, but the room itself was dirty. Some rooms are large and others small. You're on the fourth floor, so expect lots of stairs. No breakfast included, and communication in English is difficult. At least it's right in downtown Venice.

A great place to stay in downtown Venice.
