Appartamento Cà Gamba, Cannaregio alle Guglie

After a day of happily getting lost, the hotel was a calm, comfortable place to come back to, and it was clean too. We slept well, with lots of good food close by. There are bacari serving cicchetti, trattorias, little shops, bakeries, and everyday stores around the corner, so the area feels like real Venice rather than a postcard. Hotel Alle Guglie is in the heart of Cannaregio, only a short walk from Santa Lucia train station, close enough to manage with a rolling suitcase. Great location, and no gondolier needed to find dinner.

The staff were attentive and really nice, and gave us useful tips about nearby places. With monuments and other sights within walking distance, plus the train station only about a 10-minute walk away, the location was great. I was glad to stay so close to everything and didn't have to worry about figuring out the water buses. I highly recommend this hotel and will be back.

Our reservation was cancelled without any warning, and we only found out when we arrived. There had been no call, email, or other message. We were left without accommodation and offered no proper solution. That level of disregard and incompetence is disgraceful and completely unacceptable. I have zero trust in an establishment that treats guests like this. Avoid it at all costs.

I was expecting a bad experience in Italy after hearing so many negative stories, but my stay here was really nice. The staff had a good attitude and didn't make me feel unwelcome. The cleaning team did a great job in the room every day. The bed and pillow were clean and smelled really good, and the shower had strong, warm water that kept me feeling fresh. The AC was great too. There are good restaurants all around, and the neighbors were cool. Looking out at the street made me feel like a local in Venice. I liked it! This place redefined the saying “this is so Italian.”
