The apartment was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and I couldn't have asked for more on my first stay in Venice. It's an old but really beautiful private apartment on the second floor of a Venetian building, not a hotel. I booked one room for six nights after seeing American travel YouTubers recommend it. From the main train station, it's an easy 10-minute walk, with one large bridge and one small one on the way. The place was very quiet during the week, even with the window open. Over the weekend, the yelling started, and I guess that was unavoidable. It seemed like all of Venice could hear the screeching. The owners greeted me when I arrived and shared lots of great places and ideas for experiencing the city like a local. I appreciated that more than I expected. There's a coffee machine in the shared living room, with coffee tabs left in your room each day after housekeeping. A microwave, kettle, cutlery, and dishes are available too, and my room had a mini fridge for food. The buildings keep the flat cooler than it is outside. My room wasn't in direct sunlight, so it stayed at a pleasant temperature, though there was a cooling unit if I wanted to switch it on. There are two shared bathrooms, each with a toilet and shower. Sharing with the other guests was no problem, even though I showered twice a day in the sweltering heat. On my departure day, the owner kindly offered to let me leave my bags and wander around before leaving Venice, but I was heading out early and didn't use the offer.

The owner was incredibly rude. My prepaid booking was abandoned at midnight because my flight was delayed by 30 minutes, even though I'd contacted him ahead of time to say I'd be late. I was left alone in a dark, narrow, empty street in the middle of the night, crying in a panic. Luckily, a young Italian man spoke to him, and I was let in after being charged an extra 50 euros. The owner then texted to say he'd cancel my booking for the next few days. The place itself isn't great either. The room was below average, the service mediocre, and the main door nearly impossible to open. Save yourself the nightmare and stay somewhere else.

Probably the best value for money I've found as a backpacker. The rooms were perfect, with comfortable beds and decor that felt very Venetian. The owners were super friendly and eager to help us get to our room, even though we arrived very late.

Everything was good for the price, and we liked the positive host and the facilities. Our official check-in time was until 19:00, but we arrived at 19:30 and there was no extra fee. We'd asked in advance for the host to wait for us. I've added a QR code for the Wi-Fi so you don't have to type in a long password.

We stayed at the beginning of May, and there were two of us. The room was spacious and everything was clean. The location was amazing, and the gentleman who welcomed us was very polite. He explained a lot about Venice and gave us great tips around the city. There were two nice, updated modern bathrooms with showers. We highly recommend it.
