Our room felt so regal that we were giggling at bedtime every night. The queen at reception looked after us wonderfully throughout the stay, even making sure vegan pastries were picked up and warmed for breakfast each morning. The cleaning staff were so quick that we didn’t even get a chance to say Grazie, though they deserved it. We won’t stay anywhere else in Venice. Ci vediamo presto, e grazie mille per tutto.

The lobby and breakfast area had a lovely feel, and we enjoyed hanging out there. We were in Room 105 for three nights, in a hotel that used to be the house of Marco Polo. Its location is hard to beat, right in the middle of Venice, with gondolas passing along the canal outside. We paid around 600€ for three nights in mid-July, which felt a little steep but understandable for the location and experience. The room was clean and cozy, though it got stuffy if we didn’t open the window. The bathroom fixtures weren’t all in perfect condition, but it didn’t bother us much. Breakfast was basic, so don’t expect a lot, but the coffee was excellent. The staff were generally fine, though a bit more politeness would have been nice.

A lovely little hotel right in the middle of Venice. Rialto Bridge is a two-minute walk away, and St Marks Square is under ten minutes on foot. Tucked off an alley, it has its own courtyard, a peaceful spot amid all the tourist bustle. The rooms were clean, and the woman at the desk was friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay again if I came back to Venice.

We stayed in a junior suite with a canal view, and it was incredible. The room was spacious, traditionally decorated, and had a kettle and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was very modern, and the air conditioning worked so well that I could sleep comfortably, even though I can’t sleep in a warm room. The hotel, an old family house, has plenty of history, reflected in the decor of the building and rooms. It’s centrally located but just off a quiet lane, which makes for a nice balance. We’d forgotten breakfast was included. It was a lovely continental spread with freshly baked pastries, juices, cereal, yogurt, toast, and more. Delicious. My partner is vegan, and at check-in they asked about dietary needs and offered fresh vegan pastries each morning. The lovely woman serving breakfast could also make cappuccinos. The price was very reasonable for such a central place. If you book ahead through their website, they offer 10 percent off.

Ca' Amadi Hotel has lovely historic architecture and a great location near Rialto Bridge and the Vaporetto stop, so it’s easy to get around Venice. St. Mark’s Square is also a short walk away. Rooms at the back look over the canal, which gives them an authentic Venetian feel. The bathrooms have been recently renovated and are brand new and clean. There are a few practical things to know. Reception isn’t open around the clock, so after 6 PM you have to open the main door yourself. There’s no breakfast or room service, though that’s common at Venetian hotels. Footsteps from the floor above may wake you because of the high wooden ceilings. The entrance has 15-17 steps, and you’ll need to carry your own luggage since there’s no bellboy service. It isn’t accessible for people with disabilities, but children can stay.
