Ca' Bauta

I needed to work during my five nights here, and Davide even lent me an ethernet cable so the connection would be more reliable. He knows the local area well, his family has been in Venice for generations, and he was always available with tips and advice. Ca' Bauta is in a calm part of Venice, with everything still an easy walk away. The high ceilings, roomy spaces, and classic Venetian feel made it comfortable and relaxing. I kept thinking how glad I was to be staying here, and I’d definitely come back on my next visit.

The place was spotless, and the bathroom was spacious and warm, even in December. We spent three nights at Ca' Bauta, and Davide was welcoming and happy to answer our questions. He also gave us good advice on where to go and when. You can walk to San Marco and the Rialto area in about 10 minutes. Highly recommended!

The owner was polite, knew Venice well, and gave us really helpful advice. Breakfast was excellent and good value, too. We spent two nights here, and the room was spacious and lovely. The beds were firm but comfortable. I rarely leave a review unless a place is special or terrible, and this was special. I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Venice.

Davide was an excellent host, fluent in English and informative without being intrusive. His restaurant suggestions were spot on. The dining area in the central hall looked nice, but hardly anyone seemed to use it. We didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on breakfast. The room and bathroom were spacious by Venice standards, with period Venetian decor. It was quiet, but only a short walk to StMarks Sq and restaurants, and about 5 minutes on foot to the Vaporetto/ferry Ospendale stop. The room locked with a code, as did the main front door off the courtyard. The air conditioner was quiet and worked well. Our only issue was the missing small room fridge. It seemed to have been taken to replace the house fridge, which held bottled water, beer, and wine for guests. I’m not sure if the "mini bar" in other rooms was still available, or if guests were meant to use the communal fridge for alcohol. We could put our perishables and drinks in its tiny space, but it was a squeeze and a hassle. With temperatures at 40C, we really needed a fridge. Aside from that, the stay was impeccable. Highly recommended for the location, accommodation, and staff.
