Ca' Dei Conti

Pay close attention to which building you're booking. I wouldn't recommend the annex. It felt like a one-star hotel and looked nothing like the photos on booking.com or Google Maps. The double room was tiny. You opened the door and were practically on the bed, which had a wall right up against one side because there was barely room for it. The room was by the entrance, so we could hear everyone coming through the noisy entrance door. No way. I wouldn't recommend it. I agree completely with the message I attached from another customer, and wish I'd seen it before booking.

I wouldn't book this room again. The canal smell was strong, the old bed was hard, and there weren't enough receptacles. There was only one wardrobe, and the shower's folding doors didn't fit the frame. The room was right by the front door, so we heard everything. It was also extremely small and in a separate building five buildings away from the hotel. I feel misled because this room wasn't pictured anywhere. The location itself is great.

We stayed four nights and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect, about a five-minute walk from San Marco. Our room was cosy and lovely, and the hotel was very clean. The staff were welcoming and polite. We arrived well before check-in, but they showed us our room without any problem. Breakfast had lots to choose from, including fresh fruit, roasted vegetables, pancakes and croissants. They made lovely coffee on request if you don't like the coffee from a jar. There's a fridge stocked with different drinks and a bar where you can order more. They also brought milk to our room at 10 pm without any fuss. I don't know why people left bad reviews.

The breakfast was decent, and the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The location is fantastic, just a two-minute walk from St Mark's Square and close to everything. We changed rooms after the first night. Our first one was tucked away on the ground floor, with doors opening onto the corridors that let light in. It was noisy early in the morning because of the cleaners, and the public toilets were right outside. After moving, we had a much better experience.
