Ca' del Pomo Granà

We came back to the room around midnight and found little cockroaches all over, crawling out of the walls. I killed about ten in ten minutes. We had to sleep with the lights on to keep them from coming out. There were several spiderwebs in the room too, and I can’t understand why they hadn’t been cleared before guests arrived. I called the owner/manager, Zaniol Carla. He did wake up and come to investigate, but his response was basically, “Bugs come in from outside, what can I do about it?” On top of the roach-infested room and having to keep the lights on, he only offered to refund 10 euros out of the 83 we’d paid.

I tried reaching the owner several times through different channels and got no response or follow-up. The bed was broken, the sheets were dirty, and there were bugs in the house. The rooms were noisy too. The worst part, though, was seeing what I felt were lies in the Booking.com reviews. The bug in my photo was on the bed, by the way :)

Murrano is a lovely island, and staying a few days there seems like a nice way to unwind after Venice. The rooms were lovely and quiet, and breakfast had a good continental selection that was replenished daily. Carla was a lovely host and happy to help with advice or printing tickets.

I had to get Booking involved before I got my money back. I cancelled even though the booking wasn't eligible for free cancellation, and I still thought I should have received most of the payment back. They didn't refund me at first. I wouldn't trust these people.
