Corte Stupenda

We were freezing in the early morning. We stayed in December 2023, and the central heating was very hit or miss: it would warm the place for a couple of hours, then stop until someone reset the thermostat, and even that only worked sometimes. The house itself is old and charming, though some things have been neglected, like the exposed pipe in the entrance hall.

The location is right in the historic center, close to most sights, and the apartment is huge, with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. I’d say it suits seven people, rather than the eight we had. The owner was kind and quick to respond, sent all the access details and key code, and arranged for someone to fix a sink problem. Still, the place needs upkeep: the walls need refreshing, some furniture should be replaced, and the white leather sofa needs cleaning. There were no mosquito screens, so mosquitoes got in, and the towels were worn, with some stains. Bring your own toiletries, as none are provided. The kitchen faucet is loose and spins around. We were told how to switch on the heating, but it shuts off after a while because that’s how it’s programmed. It was cold at night and in the morning.

So stunning, I’d come back to see it several times in my life.
