There’s a lovely common room with a beautiful river view, and the place feels right in the heart of Venice. Its central location is convenient, especially with a ferry station right next door. But it didn’t feel much like a hotel: there’s no front desk or elevator, and virtual check-in meant nowhere to leave luggage while exploring. The room was also very hot, with no ventilation.

The Venetian room was beautiful and had the best view, and the location made it a good value for enjoying the canal. We booked through booking.com and got the confirmation email. For four nights, though, they only supplied two coffee pods, and the owner was rude when we said we hadn’t received more. Communication needs work. The shower also needs updating and didn’t warm up. Still, we’d recommend it for the location and price.

The view was pretty cool and the room was huge, but we were very disappointed. The bed was mediocre, there was little hot water, and the bathroom was downstairs via a very narrow, steep staircase. We were also prohibited from using the kitchenette, despite the place being advertised as a bed and breakfast. There was no food at any time. When we arrived in the dark, another very annoyed guest had to let us in. There’d been little communication after booking, so we needed another guest to help call and get the proper email sent. There are never staff on site. We were able to help two other groups later, so this clearly wasn’t an isolated issue. The map makes the transport stop look close, but it only runs for about six hours in the middle of the day.

The rooms were gross, with mosquito blood all over the walls from the ones you’ll be fighting all night. Check-in was a nightmare and there was no service. At $250+, this felt like an absolute scam; it might be serviceable at half that price. Don’t get taken in by thinking you found a deal. The location is great, right by a water-bus station and within a 15 minute walk of major attractions. It’s just too good to justify a 1 star review, but that’s about the only positive.
