Palazzo Paruta & Wellness Apartments

Our apartment had a lovely terrace, and having coffee or an evening spritz there with the sounds of Venice around us, neighbors talking and gondoliers singing, was a real treat. The beds were comfortable, and the apartment was nicely furnished, with a good blend of Venetian character and modern comforts. The small kitchen had what we needed for simple cooking. The reception team were warm and helpful, including finding us a great nearby restaurant on our first night. The only small snag was that room service checked the apartment just once, and we nearly ran out of toilet paper. I expect they’d have sorted it quickly if we’d called, but we were busy enjoying Venice. It’s also in a fantastic spot, close to Piazza San Marco and many of the city’s sights and districts. This was a comfortable base with plenty of Italian flair. We’d happily stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

Breakfast had a great selection, and the service was lovely. One of the men working there made us feel especially welcome every morning. The property is beautiful and full of character, with a traditional Venetian feel alongside modern amenities. Our room and bathroom looked smart, and the beds, including the pull-out singles, were comfortable for our family of three adults and a 13-year-old. We picked a canal-view junior suite, though the view was small and didn’t add much for us, so another room could work just as well. A few plug sockets felt loose, and being across from the kitchen meant some light clinking after 7am, even though staff tried to keep it quiet. The location suited us well: about 10-15 minutes on foot to St Mark’s Square, and close to transport while tucked away from the busiest, noisiest spots. It’s roughly a 10-minute walk to the centre and 5 minutes to the St Angelo water taxi stop, which made the airport arrival easy. We reached the hotel close to midnight, and the little streets were dark and a bit confusing, so Google Maps was useful. We spent weeks comparing places before settling on this one, and it had what we wanted: enough space for four in one room and an authentic feel with modern comforts. Hand on heart, it’s a great stay. If that sounds like what you’re after, don’t overthink it, just book it.

The staff made us feel welcome every time we passed, and the breakfast was much better than we expected. The waiting team were particularly good. We also spent a couple of hours at the bar and had lovely cocktails, served by someone very attentive. Our room was spacious and clean, with complimentary water, coffee, and tea, which we appreciated. The location was brilliant, within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to do but away from the busiest parts. I’d absolutely recommend staying here, and we’ll definitely be back. We spent six unforgettable days here over Christmas for our honeymoon, and were greeted with complimentary Prosecco and snacks in the room. The hotel has lovely classic Italian decor, and sits by the canal in the San Marco neighbourhood, within walking distance of the main sights and good restaurants. Our rooms were comfortable and charming, and felt like good value. The staff were consistently warm and polite. Breakfast each day was one of the best we had at hotels during our time in Europe. A complimentary Christmas Eve cocktail for guests at the hotel bar made the evening feel even more special. If we return to Venice, we’ll book Palazzo Paruta again, and would gladly recommend it to other visitors.
