Pensione Seguso

I was really let down by my stay at Pensione Seguso. The rooms feel extremely old and badly need renovation, so the value for money is very poor. The staff were kind, but the owners didn’t seem attentive to guests’ needs. In Venice, I expected hospitality to be a priority, and this fell well short. For the same price, there are plenty of other hotels in the city with much better rooms and a more pleasant stay.

We’ve just left Venice after three nights at Pensione Seguso, and we’re already dreaming about coming back. It’s a traditional Pensione, beautifully furnished and full of charm. The staff gave us incredible local tips and service. If you’re after a hotel with lots of character, look no further.

Our only real positive was the excellent communication before we arrived. The room was dated, with awkward doors to both the room and bathroom, an uncomfortable bed, a broken bedside light and broken chandelier, an unsteady table, and old-fashioned curtains. There was no mini bar or fridge, and the shower had no mount, so the only option was a bathtub. Breakfast choices were very basic, and the breakfast staff offered limited, not especially helpful service. For what we paid, the quality didn’t meet expectations. We won’t stay here again.

Lawrence and the rest of the staff were just the best, so friendly and full of great local suggestions. This long-running family hotel has lovely views, a great location, and beautiful decor. It’s packed with little treasures and old Venetian charm, just what I wanted from a dreamy city built around water. I love feeling at home in a hotel, and I can’t wait to stay here again someday.
