Royal San Marco Hotel

The location was the best part, just 50 ft from Saint Mark's basilica, and the suite was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was excellent, as were the breakfast staff. The shower temperature and pressure kept changing from second to second. It also seemed odd that ironing in the room wasn't allowed.

The location was the standout, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. They even made the beds each day without being asked, which was nice to come back to after 20k steps. The room was small and smelly, with mosquitoes, and the website photos were misleading. Sound carried through the walls, so even normal conversations from other rooms were audible. Breakfast was below average, mostly ready-made, store-bought food. If you're vegetarian or vegan, you may as well skip it, since you'd mostly be eating carbs.

The location was great, but everything else was a problem. Our tiny, grubby room had stains on the walls, and the bed was uncomfortable and had bugs. When I told the staff, they said it was "impossible" and wouldn't help. They also charged almost twice the visitor tax and refused to correct it, with the woman at the desk being extremely rude. The TV didn't work, and a bright light on the internet box kept flashing, making it really hard to sleep. I wouldn't stay here again, even if you paid me.

The location is the one good thing about this hotel. The room was extremely small, dimly lit, and had no AC. They didn't provide any bathroom items either. We arrived from an international trip at 11.30am and asked if we could check in before the usual 3.00pm, ideally around 1.00-2.00pm, but they couldn't accommodate us. A really pathetic experience.
