Sunny Terrace Hostel

The rooftop terrace was a lovely place to unwind with a drink you bring yourself, and the staff were really friendly. It was easy to reach from St marks square, just one 18 minute ferry ride to the quieter part of Venice where the hostel is, with a few restaurants nearby and a supermarket right by the ferry. I stayed in a one bedroom ensuite. The single bed felt a bit small for me since I'm tall, and the shower was small too. Like most places, there was no air conditioning.

The reception staff were very friendly and the prices were good, but some things really weren't acceptable. After 30 minutes of heavy rain, water came into our room even though the windows were shut, and there was so much that we had to use the blankets to cover it. There were also small insects in the room, which I know can happen in summer, and mold on the walls. It didn't feel nice.

The rooftop had a good view of Venice, and the free two hour tour was a nice extra. Ola, our guide, was amazing. The hostel is cheap, in a good location, and the staff are friendly. We were on the ground floor, though, and it could get noisy sometimes.

Being on a small island south of the main Venice island meant far fewer tourists, lower prices, and a much quieter stay. My private room was clean and comfortable, with its own bathroom. The Wi-Fi didn't work in the room, but that incredible view from the rooftop terrace made the stay memorable.
