Hotel Venezia

There's a mall with a pharmacy and grocery store right across the street, and some nice restaurants nearby. The buses and trains into Venice are about a five-minute walk away. It felt like a nice, safe place to stay outside the city. If you'll spend most of the day in Venice and just need somewhere to sleep and rest, it works well.

We were on a tour, so this was the hotel assigned to us. The rooms were tiny, dusty, and smelled musty. The decor is exactly as shown in the photos, but it's extremely dated and gross, passed off as “Venetian” style. The walls are so thin you can hear everything from nearby rooms. The shower was awful, too. The bidet is in the shower area, and the shower head is like a garden hose, spraying everywhere except where it should. I still felt dirty afterwards. Breakfast was very average. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else.

Breakfast was the letdown. Each day the buffet had the same small selection: three kinds of rolls, cold cuts, cheese, butter, a little fruit, juice, coffee or tea, boiled eggs, basic cereal, yogurt, and honey. It was all pre-packaged or portioned, with no hot food. Fine for one morning, but after more than one or two nights, I would've wanted to eat breakfast elsewhere. The rest of our few-night stay at Hotel Venezia was pleasant. Check-in and checkout were smooth, and the staff were friendly. Our room, especially the bathroom, was modern, spotless, and comfortable. The hotel has been renovated and is fresh and well kept, though the Venetian 17th/18th-century theme, Murano glass, classic furniture, and elegant details make it look historic. Its central location was excellent for exploring on foot. Lovely boutique hotel, as long as you don't expect much breakfast variety.

The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were lovely, though a bit small for a typical Marriott. The hotel itself is pretty, with great staff and breakfast. Its location was perfect for getting picked up for our next stop. It's close to the train, water taxi, and bus stations, so we didn't have to haul our luggage all over Venice. I'd definitely recommend it.
