Le Preziose Dimore

My husband and I stayed over the May 1st long weekend, and we were disappointed with the room. The bed's layout made it uncomfortable, and the shower was small and narrow. It's far from the historic center.

We were told by phone before arriving that breakfast would be served at the property. Once there, though, we learned it was off-site, through an arrangement with the "L'Arciere Rosso" pastry shop, where we were treated very well. The room had nice finishes, but it was in the sloping attic, so the space wasn't entirely usable. There was no air conditioning remote in the room, and the coffee machine didn't work. The stay was for a long weekend. The overall rating would have been much better if they'd been honest and clear from our first phone calls. Sometimes people lose you over a few euros.

The room coffee machine didn't work, and there were piles of dust under the bed, as if it hadn't been swept in months. For what we paid, the quality for the price just wasn't there. We'd booked this B&B for a weekend about a week ago, after my friend was drawn in by the photos of a big homemade breakfast buffet in what looked like a kitchen area. On the phone, the owner assured us she'd make breakfast herself and serve it as a buffet in the shared kitchen. When we arrived, though, the woman sent her husband to check us in and tell us breakfast wasn't served there and there was no lavish buffet. He handed us a coupon for a bar a kilometer away, at a special price of €2.50. Anything above that was extra. For €2.50, what kind of breakfast do you get these days? It should have covered at least €5. We called again to ask for the air conditioning remote, since it wasn't in the room. The husband came to the door and asked, "So you're cold???" The day was cold, humid, rainy, and very foggy. After he gave us the remote and said goodbye, he immediately turned off the radiators and never turned them back on. What if one of us had a health problem and needed more heat? That was the second bit of stinginess.

The B&B is newly built, and the room cleaning was good. Still, some things need improving: not all rooms have refrigerators, some showers are low and awkwardly placed, and the air conditioning motors are noisy enough that you can't comfortably leave the room open. They only accept cash, with no ATM available. Overall, these inconveniences need attention.
