Hotel Eden

Clean, and the food was good.

It was a nice place, and I loved it.

The owners and staff earned the fourth star for being so sweet and friendly. Nothing felt like too much trouble. The hotel is rated three stars, but I’d give it four. We found it perfectly fine for a few days, as long as you aren’t after extra luxury. The rooms are basic and noisy, though clean, with good beds. There’s a wardrobe with four hangers, so you’ll be living out of your suitcase. The shower is a bit cramped, but manageable even for us tall Dutch people. Italian breakfast was different from what we’re used to but fine, with extremely delicious, very fresh croissants and coffee. You might park right outside the door; otherwise there’s a large lot within walking distance. Ask when the market is on to avoid surprises. Restaurants and bars are within walking distance in the center, and there’s a small terrace out front where you can have a drink, though it isn’t very atmospheric. The station is walkable, with cheap trips to Bologna if you buy your ticket at the Tabbaccheria, since nothing is sold at the station. Pavarotti House and Modena are a 30-45 minute drive away.

We spent a weekend here and felt right at home. The staff were professional and very kind, and welcomed us warmly. Even though we were demanding guests, they came up with every possible solution. The rooms, service, and breakfast were excellent. Many thanks to Salvatore.
